Today Miniclip has announced a nice game development competition! Games can be created in Flash, Director or Java and they should be submitted before November 18th. 2005. The winner will get a $3000 contract with Miniclip!

New Multiplayer tutorials!!

After the release of SmartFoxServer PRO we have updated the Multiplayer Central section with 8 new tutorials showing some of the most advanced aspects of multiplayer server-side programming. Thanks to SFS PRO all the server side can be written using Actionscript so you’re not asked to learn new languages! :)

The Multiplayer Central now features more than 20 tutorials that will help you take the first steps in multiplayer programming and gradually learn more advanced features and techniques to build sophisticated apps and games.

New game published

Stephen Maddern submitted his first Flash game to our Games collection: Super Monkey Poop Fight. Stephen said: “this is my first flash experience and it required the use of many tutorials. Thanks for all the help”.

Game Patterns article

Today, in our Articles section, we published Zack Booth Simpson’s paper about Game Programming Patterns, which are named problems and common solutions in game programming. In the first half of the ’90s, Zack joined the game development company Origin Systems (which later became a subsidiary of Electronic Arts) as a programmer on Ultima. Eventually he became the Director of Technology at Origin and worked in a variety of roles on such games as the Ultima series, Wing Commander, Crusader, BioForge, and Ultima Online.
